[After a few hours of watching, pushing buttons, and general trial-and-error... The camera focuses on a cheery blue ball rolling out of the frame… and then back in. And then back out… back in. Back out… back in. Wash, rinse, emphasis on repeat. This goes on just long enough to prompt thoughts of whether or not it’s a recorded loop before Sokka breaks the silence.]

Anybody got a name for this thing? It looks like a seal that swallowed a whole melon! Which I’m sure was not appreciated by its sister seals. Melons being a precious commodity and all, d’you know how much we have to trade for one? Tons of seal pelts. Way too many to risk actually feeding a melon to one.

Seals only eat fish, anyway!

Also, why is it blue? Seals don’t get cold enough to turn blue. Anything who’d turn blue at living in the Poles reeeeally needs to go house-hunting. Like, far away, because ice is really the only building block we got. I mean, they’re good insulation, but only if you do it right. And that tends to require opposable thumbs. Flippers are cool, but this guy's are seriously weak.

So… help?

[ Hurrying to pack her things is where she is and what she's doing. She hands the gear over to Nari who just blinks in surprise. Kishi is watching her trainer pack up with surprise, but she can easily see Katara is excited about SOMETHING here. ]

It's a really, really long story. I'm coming to get you, right now. [ She'll have to leave it up to Winry to take care of the eggs for now, Soul's was already sent off with Claus, so she thinks this should be fine. She immediately grabs Jet's Pokeball for use.

... Pause. ]

Sokka... No. You can't eat the seal. That's your Pokemon. [ Oh God she missed this. ] You know, like Appa is to Aang? Congratulations, you have your own little Appa now. [ So. Amused. ]

Oh, a LONG story. Aren't they all?

[He glances down at the thing.]

He doesn't look like an Appa. Reminds me more of Momo. Or-or Hawky.

Well, no, he's not ACTUALLY a flying bison, but you get the point. This place is called Johto, it's... it's an entirely different WORLD from ours and the spirit world. Bending doesn't work here, so we get these Pokemon instead. [ Gear is put down so she can put on her backpack, then picks up again and points at Kishi. ]

This is Kishi. She was my starter Pokemon when I got here. She's a water type, probably just like yours.

No bending? So like, no Avatar? No lunar goddess of love and peace and prosperity and sheer wonderfulness guiding the Water Tribes in the ancient art?

Yeah, a name would be a good idea. Oh, yeah. If you point this thing we're talking through at it it'll tell you all about the Pokemon you meet, if it's male or female, what level and type they are, what moves they know, and their species.

Name first, though, so... since you are a sir, that also makes you a mister, right? A roly... poly... mister who rolls.

[The Spheal turns and rolls the other way.]

'Mr. Poly' sounds a little better, actually... though lacking. You think it's lacking?

I think it's very lacking.

[ You are such an adorkable big brother. ]

So Mr. Poly, who rolls... I'm not sure how you can add to that, it already has Mr. in it.

[Sokka snaps his fingers. You have done it.]

Katara, for the remainder of the week, I hereby dub you the Official Team Avatar (Minus Both The Team And The Avatar, At Least Temporarily) Idea Guy. You're brilliant.

If you meet me in Cherrygrove City I can be there by the time you arrive. I'll send Claus ahead to help. These guys are on our side, but there are wild Pokemon too.

[ She takes out her Pokeball for Noctowl and releases him. Sokka should know who/what to look for so he doesn't have a heart attack when the giant bird shows up. Katara smooths down his feathers a bit affectionately. ]

He's level one hundred, so he might not listen too well, but he'll know what to do. Clause? I need you to fly out to Sokka back in New Bark Town, and make sure he gets to Cherrygrove, okay?

[ There's a moment when he looks at her with that intense birdy gaze, then back at the screen. Ruffling his wing feathers he seems to understand. ]

...level? One hundred? What level are you, Mr. Poly-Rolls?

[He waves to Clause.]

[ No idea what he just said back, all she got was variations of "Noctowl". She takes a moment to attach his Pokeball to one of his legs in case Sokka needs to recall him. This does mean putting the gear down. ]

He should get to you in just a few hours. Be careful, Sokka, and try not to eat all the food too fast. It has to last you three days and-- stay away from the berries. [ I know you you'll probably eat them and get sick as a polardog. ]

[ignoring everything that was just said because--]

Berries? Berries are edible, sister dear.

Only some of them, Sokka. The wild berries around here will make you sick. Like cactus juice combined with weird stuff growing on cave walls sick. I mean it, don't even think about it.

Not even thinking about it is a bit harsh, but--fine, whatever. I defer to your superior wisdom.
